My team has helped a number of clients recover following these attacks recently, including RHL, a logistics company with offices in Stevenage and London. When the virus was transmitted to RHL through an email attachment, things got messy. The virus spread from the employee’s workstation to the servers, crippling their businesses and restricting access to various files.

Education is essential when dealing with ransomware. While having antivirus software and a business continuity and disaster recovery (BCDR) are imperative, education is equally important. Employees must have the ability to recognize suspicious and dangerous emails, and understand the ramifications involved when this threat hits a system.
